The season is just starting in Thailand and Laos. Maybe someone from there can get you some seed.

I called and asked to be added to the wait list at Hula Brothers, via voicemail message. No one called me back for a while, and then they contacted me (almost a year later) and said a tree was ready. It was nice sized (almost 3 foot) and appeared extremely healthy. No problem with transplanting. New branches growing from each section now, and looking happy.

Got another much smaller plant from an eBay seller. Cost more.

Recommend you find an established plant if you can. Doesn't seem to be fast growing, especially as a small plant.

I see fruits in local stores. A bag would get you 3-4 seeds.

Wont germinate because it got irradiated before shipping overseas.

As the title suggests I realize they may not be in season, any advice when and who has seeds or seedlings, trust tested only please.

Forget about Purple Mangosteen, go with Seashore Mangosteen first and if it grows well in your climate, use it as a rootstock for Purple Mangosteen.

Propagation and Culture

Seashore mangosteen is propagated by seeds, which germinate in 3-4 weeks.  It may be used as a rootstock for mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) (mangosteen grafting).  It is very tolerant adverse soil and climatic conditions, being adapted to growing in sandy and rocky soils near the beach in its native habitat.  It also grows well in acid clay soils, and tolerates drought as well as high rainfall.  Grows and fruits from sea level to over 1,500 feet (457 m) elevation.

In Puerto Rico, seashore mangosteen flowers from February to April, and fruits from June to August.  A mature tree can produce 300-500 or more fruits per year.

Maybe the mangosteen fruits I got came from Mexico.

I got 5 germinated seeds. Ended up with 2 seedlings.

I believe there is a tree at fruit & spice park in Florida. Try to ask someone from Florida, he might be able to send you several seeds of seashore mangosteen.

That is wonderful.

All the mangosteen fruits we get from Asia are irradiated.  I tried many times with no luck.
