Productivity of these Jackfruits?
« on: May 27, 2015, 04:46:46 PM »
Anybody know the productivity of these Jackfruits in south Florida?  I am thinking of "top working" some of my seedlings if they do not have a history of productivity, into perhaps a Bangkok Lemon.

Bangkok Lemon (grafted) - has about six fruit on it now.
Mai 2 (grafted)
J-31 (grafted)
Borneo Red (grafted)
Papi Fairchild (grafted)
Sweet Fairchild (grafted)
Black Gold (grafted)
Then Varida (seedling)
Mai 1 (seedling)
NS-1 (seedling)
Golden Pillow (seedling)

110+ fruit trees/plants; 60+ mango trees; 9 jackfruit; 6 avocado; 3 persimmon; longan; and a dog that keeps raccoons and squirrels away.

Productivity of your seedlings will only be determined once your particular trees fruit. Mai2 and Borneo Red have not been very productive at all for me. Mai 1 and Black Gold produce very nicely.  I can't comment on the others as either I do not grow them or my trees are too small to make any judgment.

Thanks Harry.  Most of my seedlings are too small to make a judgment.

So far the Bangkok Lemon is the champ for productivity and the Borneo Red is the champ for taste.

Two of the seedlings had unimpressive fruit; I'm thinking of replacing them.

I recently bought red morning seedling from toptropicals, what is the percentage  that it will be an equal or better to the parent?
