Tropical Fruit Discussion / PAPAYA from Seeds or Transplanted?
« on: September 28, 2015, 11:51:10 AM »
I have found that Papayas are more productive and tend to be more stable when they are planted by just the seeds and left to grow as opposed to transplanting them from seedlings. They don't like to be moved it seems. The plants that I have transplanted end up weaker and bore less fruits.

Anyone with that experience and maybe an explanation?

I would let them all grow because they all need each other for pollination/cross pollination. You may end up with different varieties of papaya. I started from seeds that i got from a supermarket papaya a few years ago and now i have about seven different varieties in my backyard. If only flowers come out of the new buds after a few months it may be a non bearing male but by then the other trees should have fruits.  Good luck and please lets see the progress of the fruits.

I have an Otaheite Apple tree in my backyard planted close to the lake. It is about 15 feet tall but there are no fruits or blossoms as yet. Is anyone here familiar with this plant and can shed some light on this for me? How long does to take to bear fruits and what time of year is it supposed to be blossoming?

Thanks

Good Day...
Can anyone assist in finding a place in Coral Springs or closer that I can purchase breadfruit or Jackfruit? It looks impossible to find these fruits in my location or close.

Thanks

Western beef up in West Boca on 441 has breadfruit from time to time, I guess when they're in season.

Thanks.. I went to Western Beef and got about 7 of these and there is more there. I am a happy camper. Thanks again  ;D ;D

If you go to krome ave, most of the farm stands have them for sale. breadfruit are not as common, I was selling them, but I have ran out until my tree blooms again.

Thanks a lot. Will try that

Thanks all for the information. I have tried all of those locations without success. I guess it is just my luck.. LOL

Are there farms that you can purchase from online or in Broward county? I really love jackfruit but can't seem to find any at all even though it is supposed to e in season.
