Thanks Adam for sharing that video!

The jaboticaba would like spaghnum peat moss mixed with 15% perlite
Use Epsoma holly tone fertilizer
The blackberry jam fruit I would use the same mix and add some rabbit
manure.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Attaboya atemoya

I ate a keitt mango and my first Lisa atemoya and a Na Dai
sugar apple for desert tonight. WOW!
The Lisa atemoya was my favorite fruit I produced last year
and my first taste this year it's probably going to be this year
as well.  I also ate my first dream this morning and it was small
but very good also. Much better then last year when it produced
for the first time. I picked the Na Dai in the picture today and will
eat it tomorrow.

Do you think it doesn't fruit because lack of cold? Did you give it 1-2 months
dry in the Winter? My brother's wife came from China and her father has lychee
trees and every year they produce fruit. My brother said it gets 40F every night
for 30 days during the Winter, he also said it rarely frosts. Perfect cool dry month?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Nani dai vs lessors Thai sugar apple
« on: August 10, 2019, 01:20:22 PM »
I understand that Na Dai translate to easy peal
I believe I sampled a Thai Lessard and I cut the fruit in half and scooped out with
a spoon. I am growing 2 now from those seeds but I only have one small fruit this year.
I bought seedling Na Dais from 2 different batches, the first batch  I have 2 trees that
are next to my house and are outstanding. They are loaded now and I can't wait. The skin
peals away easy. The other batch of Na Dais were not so good to eat. They pealed easily
but were totally different then the two when it comes to taste. I replaced them this year
and now have big red and Isan Indigo and 2 other types of purple Na Dais growing. Most
of the new ones have a few fruit and I will sample in a month. I liked the Thai Lessard I sampled
Wal mart has sold me some mislabeled trees before but with the sugar apples you won't have to wait long
and you should be able to sample the fruit.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: unhealthy pepper plants

What works for me in Florida
My greenest healthiest hot pepper plants I grow under an oak with mostly
filtered indirect sunlight. I grow my peppers in a 15 gallon pot and give miracle
grow once a week. I currently don't have many peppers but the plants are green and
starting another round of flowering. I have a 3 year old C reaper, 2 tabascos, 1 fat
tabasco 1 wiri wiri, When a plant is really cranking like a Tabasco I might have 250+
peppers at once including red, orange and greens ones. I have also recently started
some more small ones.
They grow year round as long as I protect from the occasional frost
Have you tried miracle grow? drench the roots.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / turpentine mango
« on: August 09, 2019, 09:52:38 PM »
I started some turpentine mango seeds for future rootstock.
Several of the seedlings have 2 sprouts. Is the turpentine mango poly?
or did I get seeds from something else?
Thanks

If the lot is 60' X 60'
then you could put 4 even rows of 4 in if you leave 7 1/2'
on the edges. I like everything to be in lines and even ( it's probably not
healthy)
All your trees would be 15 away from any other tree but the trees on the edge would spill over
the edges if they get more then 15' wide? I have seen mangos and longans that were 25'+ wide.
You will have to prune especially if your neighbor on the edge is not cooperative. Hopefully
they enjoy fruit. Another advantage would be a cluster of larger trees could create a warmer
buffer area on the occasional cold nights.
I have 2 kohala longans and they are fruiting every year also. They have handled 30F and
hurricane Irma. Everyone has a different opinion which type is better and some trees grow
differently in different conditions. The 15 trees you picked will probably not be the 15 trees you
end up with? It's a work in progress and my taste change and evolve. You have plenty of diversity
with the other trees you mentioned.  Hopefully you will provide pictures as you transform your
lot.

1413
If you come in 7 1/2' and plant a tree then do another tree every 15' apart you
would end up with room for 16 trees. Four rows of four all trees 7 1/2 ' from the
edge. You have 15 trees on your list. That is tight since all your trees have the
potential to get large but I have seen people put allot more trees in an area that large.
Unfortunately your trees will be right next to the road and visible to drivers/fruit thieves.
If it was me I would consider only planting 3-4 mangos and increase your diversity? I have
never heard anyone on this forum say they have enough room

Cold killed mine 2 years ago in Orlando. Maybe in a pot but not in ground.
What temps killed your tree?

If you were in Florida it probably would be the Sri Lankan Weevil
which is active at night. I hope you don't have them out there and
never get them.
I sprayed allot of poison on them and finally found one that works.( for a while)

1417
Get 6-8 turpentine seeds.
I gathered 15 the other day that were husks only.
Pop the husk and germinate the seeds between damp paper towels
Plant 4 germinated seeds in 3 gallon pots and plant 2 directly in
the ground where you want a mango tree. Next Spring graft
fresh scions from your mystery tree on your turpentine rootstock?

1418
If the tree needs more water then the leaves get droopy
It doesn't seem like you can water grumichama too much

I have several black and yellow. I have one black tree that flowers
every year in the Spring and has never set a fruit. This is going on
4 years now. I am giving the tree one more Spring?  Hopefully your
tree has fruited before? I also had another tree that set fruit all over the
place and each fruit had 5-7 seeds per fruit and it tasted terrible. That one
is gone. There seems to be allot of variation in seedlings?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Air Layering failed
« on: July 28, 2019, 12:56:17 AM »
I recently attempted 5 airlayers on a longan and after a month I had 0
roots. I attempted another one and after another month all 5 of the original
ones had roots. I will check the last one in another month.

1421
Trees are probably focusing on getting their roots established.
I know I get impatient and want to keep adding something new.
keep watering and the growth will come.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: To many sugar apples
« on: July 21, 2019, 10:02:28 PM »
Do you want more small sugar apples or less bigger sugar apples?
Last year my dream atemoya had allot of fruit and on some branches there were 2-3
in a clump. I did not thin and they never got big?
I would experiment and thin some and leave some.  Mainly the ones I would
consider thinning are the ones that are right on top of each other.

My two Na Dai are loaded as well and I see small ones still forming
I also have some small trees this year with a few fruit on them including Big Red
has 3 and Isan Indigo has 2 on one and 1 on another. I also have 2 on Vietnamese
type. I can't wait.

1424
I have a fairly large CORG that is around 7 years old. When I amend the soil with natural fertilizers (I've tried Dr Earth, Bone meal, blood meal, etc) it pushed out an obscene amount of growth. At this stage I'm trying to shock it with some selective trimming and wood ash to get it to flower... But with no success. I just acquired a small seedling about the size of yours, and will be re-potting to a large pot soon and amending again.

The other thing I mess around with is mycorrizhae and it seems to be the most effective thing to do to get rapid growth out of stuff. I heavily dosed a surinam cherry I have and it grew so much in the last flush I've had to stake it up.
Who do you get your mycorrizhae from?
I got some and I always wonder if it's legit.
I have not seen unreal growth which adds to my paranoia
