Lot More HLB in California

 As of Oct. 9, there have been 906 positive HLB detections in California. “The real hot spot for us right now is Orange County. We’re finding a lot of HLB-positive trees in Garden Grove and Anaheim,” said Victoria Hornbaker, interim citrus program director with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).

Very bad news. Anyone heard from Gene Lester recently? He's up in Watsonville & has probably the largest private citrus collection in the world. He has sent me many different budwood varieties in the past, but haven't heard from him in a while.

HLB has never been stopped anywhere in the world..  Unless a miracle occurs it won't be stopped in California.  Laaz I have not heard a word from Gene Lester in years.

There is a cheap way to check the citrus whether it has a HLB, not 100% accurate, but might give you an indication that your plant has the virus. Then you can submit the sample for PCR or use an ELISA test.

With the use of a iodine solution available at drugstores, one can perform the test at home.
