Agree with Nate here that Jonah's tree is the best guabiju, but also of note, the leaves on his tree are wavy and that's unusual. I top worked my seedling guabiju with his scions and they took great with cleft grafts, 100% take rate.
Is to possible for the scions to be rooted instead of grafted?
What can it be grafted onto besides itself? I remember people testing other ‘rootstocks’ but don’t think I ever found out if any were compatibleThey can be grafted onto a number of Myrica species with some species having better take rates supposedly. I think a lot of people are using Myrica cerifera but I have been grafting all of mine onto Myrica californica. I am in M. californica's native range and have some big trees on my farm that have grown in the past ~50 years. I'm gonna try Myrica cerifera sometime soon though.
