Strange ( bad ) fruiting year so far for 2017 .

Don't know about you folks but so far 2017 was not really a good fruiting year , actually very poor . Some trees didn't even flower at all . Others on the other side had unusual heavy crops . Did any of you experience the same ?

Luc I've heard from my friends in Borneo and Brazil (Amazonian) that some weird stuff have been happening:

+ Borneo: some forest species do not fruit at all (Willughbeia,...) for several seasons in a row
+ Amazonian: currently some areas are very dry. It's hard to collect fruits/seeds as there are very few fruits produced.

Looks like the climate has been changing in a very unpredictable way.

Yes, this year none of my Rambutan and Pulasan trees fruited, while my Mangosteen trees had very few fruits. Same with my Soursop. But my Gummigutta trees fruited as usual, some had very heavy crop. Last seven months the weather has been wierd, it is raining when it should not, so much so that I have lost all the Areca nuts to fungal attack, no flowers on Black Pepper vines, only Coffee is unaffected.

Bumper crop for durians, mangosteens did not fruit or are very late, avocados did really well, mangoes pretty good. I expect will be good year for rambutans also. This summer was a lot drier than usual and that helps many trees to initiate fruiting and cuts down on diseases when there is not heavy rains.

2017 so far was drier than usual in Ecuador at least sunnier, has been rainy the last month or more.
Harvests were good. Mostly better than the years before for most fruits. Last couple years were usually rainy. 2100mm annual rainfall. 21c avg temp.

Each crop has its own story but overall this has been a very good year for most stuff.  Many crops fruited early, like durian and mangosteen.  I am seeing another flowering on durian now for the secondary season.
It's been good with few exceptions.

Dragonfruit in San Diego fruited muiltiple times this year

All my vegetable had very poor yield.
Citrus due to extreme heat didn't take a single fruit and the plants were always suffering.
Jujube second year in the ground, the first year had a few fruit, this year zero.
Lost all pear to one of the few storm. Ok for apricot, apples and hardy kiwi.

in New Orleanms we had record rainfall all summer
it seemed the ground never had a chance to dry out
Pomegranate did not even bllom, much less fruit.
Figs started very late.
satsuma mandarin is dropping fruit and they are looking pretty bad
guava didnt flower in early summer like usual (a few flowers very late)

Feijoa never did flower...
still kinda young, but  it flowered 2 years ago, and a couple last year
but never got any fruit.
this year i hadnt seen even 1 flower.

i am guessing and hoping it was the rain
i really like my guava and citrus
its also been hotter than usual (at least now its dried out)

Seems like the climate is getting hotter is a real thing. Heat-lover species are happily fruiting while others get severely overheated. Not sure how far we are to a point at which heat-lover species also get overheated.
