airlayer of harry's Mahachanok- doing great-setting plenty of fruit- largest is about 5-6 inches long.

a couple of the smaller ones, shrivelled up- is this the dreaded anthracanose?

couple of flower spikes still to open

my sweetheart lychee- seems like it will set 20-30 fruit

golden nugget tangerines developing nicely

my jab

LL, you are doing great!

I have one lychee getting ready to bloom and another that is refusing to do so this year.
Mango 'Cogshall' has a great bloom but no fruit set.  What is your secret?

My jabs.  This one from Flora Exotica (what a mistake):

This one from PR:

the flora exotica jab is not the one that has fruited right? so you have 3 jabs? im confused!
and btw, the jab that i got from pr at the same time as you basicly has not grown at all- yours is doing great.
as for my mango- harry blessed it before he sold it to me. that and maybe some fish fertilizer i use

kudos on the Mahachanok.  Very impressed with its size for the end of January.  I take it your plants have never seen a map or calendar  ;D

Lookin' good, LL....Since I'm a failure at grafting, I should try air-layering some
day....I'm sure that's HIGHLY successful....

The Flora Exotica jab, the bigger one, is the one that has fruited.  The smaller one we got in PR has not.  Where did you get the one in your pictures?

Great pics, Gerry. Did you use flies to pollinate the mangoes, or did you do it by hand?

NTM- I released bluebottle flies in the garage -i have never been able to figure out the mango anatomy to attempt manual pollination. but the flies rarely went to the mango blooms- they kinda hung out on the leaves of the other trees. i also had a fan pointing at the mangoes to try and get some wind pollination action. . the mango tree set so many fruits that  i suspsect they may self pollinate. no one seems to  know the answer to whether that is feasible (Osac/Adam- any thoughts?)
by the way, NTM, i posted some qs in reply to your post. when you get a minute, can you respond.

robert- if your flora exoctica jab has fruited, why did you write that your purchase was a mistake.

everyone- do you see a couple of the smaller mangoes turned black and shriveled up- is that anthracnose or just regular fruit drop?

Nothing to do with the jab, it was the other 5 things I ordered that were problematic.

Anthracnose usually causes black round spots first before it spreads. So i think it's regular fruit abortion--not surprising on such small plant.

Gerry, The flies most definitely pollinated your mango, I have no doubt of that. I've tried both wind and hand pollination, and they are equally unreliable. I would have been really surprised if you did it by hand.

Also, I did respond to your questions on my thread(in the thread)...you'll have to find it though. I think it's on the 3rd or 4th page by now. This forum does move through topics fast.

Amazing! If you are able to do that up north, I wonder what you could do in little backyard in FL!!!
