Sugar Apple on Cherimoya Rootstock
« on: June 05, 2018, 12:13:39 AM »
I recently planted a sugar apple trees that was grafted on Cherimoya rootstock.  The graft location is about 18” from the ground and overall tree height is about 6’ tall.  I have a nice healthy sucker developing just below the graft which is Cherimoya.  Several small sugar apple flowers/baby fruits about the graft.  Can I keep the sucker so my tree carries both types of fruits?

The sucker will produce fruit of any unknown quality and will take away the energy your sugar apple needs to grow. I would remove it.
