I am looking for a place to purchase of 50LB bag of rice hulls in South Florida. I was wondering if anyone knows where to purchase this. Thank you before hand.

I was looking for cottonseed meal and asked Diamond R and they don't carry it and I tried
my local feed store and they ordered me 2 bags?
-
Have you tried hydroponic shops? That's where I get rice hulls from in CA.

Keep an eye on A.M. Leonard.com when they offer free shipping.

Thank you. I still have not found it for sale locally. I called Diamond-R and two feed stores and no one carries it or is willing to special order it. Some places didn't even know what rice hulls was. :-\

I’m curious what your looking to use this medium for?

Thank you for your message! For soil mix and as a cheaper replacement for Perlite. A study at Purdue University shows that rice hulls may work as well or better than peat and perlite in some finished crops.

I thought you were going to use rice hull for mango potting mix since rice hull has silicon, a mineral that mango needs.

Seanny, thank you for the info. Yes, I definitely will use it for mango and other fruit trees' potting mix. Rice hull also contains Lignin which helps balance the ph of soil and turns into Humic substances when mixed with soil. I do not plan on removing perlite from my soil mix, I will use both because they both offer different benefits.

Hi Mike, I did try it but unfortunately the free shipping does not apply to rice hulls.

That's a shame. They did previously but I guess too many people took advantage of a good deal.

How many did you add to your cart?
Try 1 or 2, it should work.
If you have several, I don't know the threshold, it wouldn't.
-
If any rice is grown in your area do a search for rice mills. They generally have tons of hulls dumped somewhere on their grounds. You could probably take as much as you want for free.

I just tried adding two and the shipping is $59.99. Does it work for you?

Looks like free shipping offer is no longer available.
