Greart job! Everything's looking super healthy. What variety is your sugar apple and what size pot is it in? Thanks for sharing.
-
Thanks Fruit4me. It's a Vietnamese variety. I am not sure what its English translation is. It's in a 15g pot for now.
-
Thanks for the photos, very impressive, they look great!! Are you the one who has a temperature controlled greenhouse for all your tropical trees? Is the longan in ground or in a container?
Thanks,
Trung
-
Thanks Trung! Yes, all of my plants are kept in greenhouse during winter time. The longan is in container.
-
Tuan, impressive! My sugar apple barely have leaf come out and the spapodilla flower did not even open yet.
What kind of malay apple is it?
-
Holy cow!
How do you move and overwinter everything?
-
Thanks Fruitnut. It's a Shinark Red Wax Jambu.

I got it three years ago from Plantogram. It almost completely died. Luckily, one little branch from the roof was able to survive from a brutal winter, and now starts fruiting. I am not sure how this variety taste.
Anyone ever experience this variety before?
Thanks

They all are kept in a heated greenhouse (where I plant the papaya in the picture). Huge heating bill during winter time! LOL.

Wow! Your plants look prestine. Are you using RO water that is pHed?
In order to stimulate flowering of a Lychee tree, you may want to cut back on Nitrogen many months before flowering and you should also start to water it less around Fall so that it can go through a dry period before flowering. Also make sure it is in full sun. You can also inoculate the soil with beneficial organisms.

Thanks Simon. I will definitely follow your recommendation for the lychee. I never had a lychee freshly picked from the tree before. LOL..
Tuan

You have skills!! 8) Lots of green foliage and good looking tropical/sub-tropical fruits. Well done! Amazing for Virginia.
-
Nice. I showed my friend in VA Beach and she thought your trees were wonderful. Wanted to ask though, you sent a nice email, and I replied back and didn't hear from you again, did my emails never get through?
-
Wow, your trees look amazing Anh tuan. Is that a jackfruit tree under the lychee?
-
Hi, I just joined recently the forum. Since I live in Fairfax County I'd like to meet with you because I'm also growing tropical and sub-tropical trees. How can we meet? Juan
