Hi,

Selling Galo seeds for $3 each.  Minimum order is 3 seeds. Only 15 seeds available. Shipping fee is $15.

Galo - A Rare Native Fruit Worth Conserving

"Parang avocado na may halong gatas at asukal" ( like avocado mixed with sugar and milk) is the unanimous reaction when friends taste a ripe galo fruit. Galo (Anacolosa frutescens, Olacaceae) is found only in  Cavite province today. But even there the number of trees is dwindling fast. Our Farm has seven fruiting trees and we are getting good production this year. We have to wrap each fruit before it ripens on the tree so that bats will not take the fruits away at night. The nut of this pingpong ball-sized fruit is also delicious boiled or roasted.

Do you think this tree would survive in inland southern california. We have hot summers, and mild winters with low temps in the 30's

I think you would be needing a greenhouse for this tropical fruit tree. Actually, this is my first time to plant this rare fruit tree in my farm as part of conservation effort of vanishing fruit trees in our country.

Got Galo (Anacolosa frutescens) seeds from Reyes (fruitnursery) today. The seeds are in great condition. Thank you for the very many extra seeds!
