Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Mango updates and worries, help please

They look like they may be root bound and/or not have enough drainage.. indication- dyeing of the stem?

Spoke with Chris today and she said that you’re able to purchase from her and have Montura Garden deliver it to you for a small fee

3
Chris at Truly Tropical has both on her inventory list in 3 and 7 gallon. Contact her at The Mango Place to confirm before you drive. She's out and about the farm, but will get back to you.

Chris is my number one go to place! (Based on his description I was trying to find him someone locally to him.)

Alex is also another excellent choice!

Closest I know in your area (& recommend) is Mike at TreesNMore tho I would reach out.. not sure if he has those in stock in large sizes. Bought from him a few times, very knowledgeable, & never had any issues.

Nursery I know (& may be best suited for your specific situation) that has Size-able trees and ships/delivers- Montura Gardens. Have bought a few times with a friend and also no issues.

Thanks for looking everyone, this tree is now sold.

6
Have a friend selling his 15gal Lemon Meringue. Local pickup located in Royal Palm area.

Seems scions are hard to get nowadays  :'(

I sell scions but last couple times not many responses.. Thank you to those that did!!!

I’m about to trim my trees back soon. How many Super Julie and Guava are you looking for?

Looks like I'll just be needing 7 super Julie scions if possible.
Alex

So it looks like no one has Goldfinger growing in their yard?

If I knew where my map/cheat sheet for the bananas in the yard were, I would’ve already reached out to you for the goldfinger! Sorry, I haven’t been able to find it
Oh man, so you lost track of your bananas?  How did that happen?  ???

I took out the cheat sheet for a YouTube video but then ended up not using it since the video was more about mangos.. haven’t been able to find it since and I grow about 2 dozen varieties of bananas and 2 plantains but only familiarized myself with the blue Java/Ice cream, Manzano, and praying hands.

I got 11 Mangoes off my tree this past season. Wondering what supplements might be recommended for the tree between now and next season.

Calcium, & no nitrogen with minor nutrients. If you are able to start a spray regiment- beneficials, minor nutrients, copper fungicide, & potassium silicate. Also if you have access to chipped mulch, something to improve the soil quality

14
Hit it with fertilizer.. I did that trying to encourage more flowering and instead it practically killed the flowers and went back into a vegetative state for a while before it started flowering again. Fertilizer I used was high in Nitrogen

Anytime I’ve been featured in a tasting I’ve always tried to be as descriptive as possible but I tend to run out of words and adjectives when I get into a “put on the spot”.. so most of the time I’ve been in Chris’s videos I’ve usually been pretty quiet unintentionally lol

I want to add M-4 to my Sugarloaf tree.  My understanding is that they should be compatible as far as vigor.  Also, I'm thinking that M-4 is a more reliable producer and will extend the season, and it's also a superb mango.

Very superb combo John! 🤤 not sure about compatibility but definitely wins as far as flavor, production, and season!

Update on spring grafting. So far have grafted time will tell if they're successful. Ah Ping Amika Philippine Usda Himsagar Sunrise. Put in a request for Zinc and St. Maui. What I really want is Marko I'll just have to be patient which is not my nature

Nice choices! I hope they take for you!!! And I know how you feel about waiting to get other varieties 😣

I did a few recently as well that I had promised over a year ago- (2) ZINC, a Dot, a Sweet Tart, and a Lemon Meringue. All 3gal seedlings except for a gal that I did Zinc onto.

I requested and paid for my scions over a week ago. How long does taf typically take to contact you to ship them, and ship them?

The request lists get checked on Sundays and invoices emailed on late Sunday nights and Monday.

Mine must have got forgotten. It's been 2 Sundays and Mondays with no invoice or anything.

There was an order I placed with Alex for a specific variety in 3gal had a 6month wait before notification of being ready. Fast forward to the following mango season (a year later) and I was reminded of that variety again and then I realized I forgot about my order! I contacted Alex and he answered right away and apologized about the system not sending the notification that the order was ready. He had the order saved with the invoice over a year later!!  He has since changed his system and I’ve had other orders with him without any problems.

Not surprised he has 1,000+ budwood requests. I can just imagine how many more people are also blowing him up for orders, scions, mango fruit, trees, etc..

This seems to be the only tree responding to drought stress

Has anyone had occasion to notice if Sweet Tart in particular responds to drought stress?

Lots of new flushes and fruit drop but no new panicles

It was a really good tasting mango

Can you offer a comparison to other mango varieties?

This year past year was not as strong/intense flavor as the year prior but it reminded me of Pina colada and sugarloaf/fruit punch flavor profile type of cross.. I did enjoy “Marko” more only because of how intense the flavor was after eating tons of different varieties but both are exceptional mangos!
Well I guess I'll be rotating the tires on the buggy then going back to Seacrest Boulevard when Marko is available🙂👍

😎 yes I believe that you won’t be disappointed with either one! I’m curious as to how they will perform in other locations
