Glenn is a WEED for me, the thing grows bout' 3 inches a week... just kidding, Manilas are good too, Timatoyo's are formatted to grow here havae 1 in my yard, gotta ask Norman about his mango trees that thrive. Also try Atualfo, Edwards which I heard people have gotten success with here, the fruits from Norm's tree were Delish, If have a grafted Kent that fruited outside, not doing well now tough because it's rootbound in a 15 gal. pot.

26 pounds?

Good for you Ed,the cure just might be soursop... maybe junglesop (Annonidium mannii) too or groundsop (Annona stenophylla), or mountiansop( Annona montana, syn. Annona marcgravii), etc...

I use hass, then again that's the most common here, and I have 5 hass trees in my yard, so it's kinda a "duh" answer. Anybody know a better one for me?

Cool, looks tasty.

Norman here in santa barbara will let you taste fruit from his trees if it's ripe, be careful though, if you pick an unripe fruit he'll send ya home because he sells some of his fruit too. I found that out the hard way :( came back the next day though :)

What truth? Your selling them the mangosteen and their selling it again?

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Trade Winds selling Garcinia again?
« on: April 27, 2013, 11:57:45 AM »
Hey everybody, was just looking at trade winds seed website and look what I found http://www.tradewindsfruitstore.com/servlet/the-1220/Garcinia-mangostana--dsh--Mangosteen/Detail
I thought they weren't going to do garcinias anymore, and if they were why would they start with a hard one like mangosteen?

Cool, im so excited to when the one you grafted for me is going to take! Just can't wait!

Because the forums image hosting has ads that I find very inapropriate, I have already discussed this with murahilin, I will either upload my pictures on another image hosting website that does not have these ads, or I will put an ad block on it.

PM,

I would stick to one plant for now with breeding. After you obtain a good result you could move on. I still have not got around to breeding due to lack of space. Eventually I want to breed some vegetables and cross some Opuntia sp.
For now I do have a one main plant, cherimoya, passionfruit second, guavas third, and rollinia fourth because It takes a LOT of tending to get them to fruit here.

To grow inside, above I was talking about growing outside.

22
I know but soursop will NOT grow here, fails everytime when tried OUTSIDE, I once germinated about 15 to 20 seeds out of 30 and not one was resistant to the weather, even so, It would need at least 80% humidity to fruit/thrive.

23
Oh? Thanks for the info., the sign on them said "Custard apple" though, probably for selling reasons because custard sounds more appetizing than sugar.

Grocery stores and markets often get the names of less common fruit incorrect. They even get the names of common fruit incorrect. I've seen "Honeybell Oranges" at Whole Foods.

edit: Sugar apples are also called Custard Apples in some other countries and that may have caused the mix up as well.
Haha, honeybell oranges????!!!!

I was blown away when I read about this unlikely graft by my friend Juan in Mallorca.
He got Castanea sativa (chestnut) to take on some Quercus sp (oak).

http://jardin-mundani.blogspot.pt/2013/03/y-el-milagro-fue-posible-y-se-hizo.html

So, maybe there some weird grafts still waiting to happen.
 :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o my gosh
