Okay, perfect, I don't know why I thought it could be a garcinia indeed. I can't remember to have planted seeds of Z.malaccense. However I have planted so many different fruit species over the last two years, that I might have planted some Z.malaccense as well. Anyway, one will know soon or later ! Thank you very much for your help and sharing your knowledge. Much appreciated !

Due to the long time it took for those seeds to sprout, I simply lost the label and can't remember what it is. Seems to be a garcinia ? Thanks for your help !

The fruit was yellow. You are right, may be not fully ripe. I liked the taste ( sweet and tart ) the problem was the lack of flesh. I will wait for the other fruits to turn orange then. Thanks for the advice Adam.

Just tasted one fruit today. Pretty interesting taste although a bit tart but 3 seeds inside and very few flesh. As a result, not so much to eat from those fruits. It is more a collector specie I reckon.

Well I have tasted some fruits this morning quite ripe, but I have been quite disappointed as quite tart indeed… I reckon the only use for those fruit is to transform them ( jelly, jam etc… )

Another one. This time I got more info. It comes from Amazon jungle, and the Jivaro eat the fruit. Looks like a garcinia ? Fruits are yellow when ripe.

Just visited today a fruit collector here in NC who planted hundreds of tropical and subtropical fruit trees mainly from seeds he brought back from his different trips he has made over the last 50 years ( south america and asia mainly ). Problem is that he is getting old now and he forgot most names and localities he got them from. I took pictures of some of them flowering or fruiting and I hope someone could help me to identify some of them.

Here is a first one I don't know anything about except that fruits are nice and tasty from owner's sayings ? He is flowering at the moment and should fruit within the next weeks ? I should be able to take pictures of the fruits as well in a near future. But may be some experts could identify that specie without seeing the fruits ?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Garcinia puat
« on: September 05, 2015, 12:05:29 AM »
My 1 year old seedlings of Garcinia puat, one of the very few interesting New  Caledonian endemic fruit tree in terms of edibility and taste. One can make delicious jelly/jam with the fruits.

Picture of the fruit :

For those interested I should be able to supply seeds and seedlings pretty soon. Trade only.

Thanks Alex, no idea, but I reckon it was planted as it seems to be near by a mango tree and a small building too ? I will check this out carefully as soon as it will be fruiting. Thanks for your help. Vincent
