You're right, Adam. My bad! I thought the scion was on the right when it's actually on the left and has already leafed out 3 times already.

hahaha ya, i sent that same pic to Bob via txt, and he immediately scolded me for letting the rootstock push out new growth  :P

when i see someone's graft doing the same thing I get really antsy...and ask them if I can trim the growth off  :D

the back up big red foot is growing nicely!

I've never grafted an annona scion so small!

(there may be some exciting news about this variety soon...we are getting closer to finding out the truth...there is some very compelling evidence out there!)

Nicely done. What about the original graft? I hope it's still doing fine.

thanks!

yes it's flowering now! about 2ft tall, in a 3 gal pot...has over 10 flowers!

if it sets fruit, I will try to let one ripen!!

but I'm probably not going to hand pollinate.

hahaha...
yes I want confirmation...if it doesn't set fruit on it's own, I might try to pollinate...

some of the stories I've heard about this fruit are tantalizing!

Well, all of us Annona enthusiasts are counting on you (and the original instigator/enabler) to prove that anon negro is truly a red fleshed A. Squamosa.

No such thing Saff, it is a pigment of your imagination.

come on don't be such a negative nancy!  :P

I have the constitutional right to bear fruits!

I think this crimson colored conspiracy theory could be reality!

Nope, you have a Constitutional right to bear arms, but a responsibility / duty to bear fruit :-)

My grafted tree is growing so slowly. It has a flower but is not in the position to hold fruits yet. It went straight into a five gallon bucket. I will have to take a pic of the new leaves, they look nice. If this tree produces fruit that is pink inside I will be content. Every one in the area verifys that it is. We will see.

it's 2016, about two years since I grafted the sugar apple that's purported to have pink flesh...my patience has worn off...I'm going to be hand pollinating this season!

It is very slow growing for me also. I'm not content with the squamosa root stock and will be grafting onto something else as soon as I get a better growth spurt or any growth spurt. I changed out the soil recently and hope that it will respond well.

definitely big enough to fruit...about 2.5ft tall and bushy, in 7gal?

it flowered pretty well, but none set fruit, even when I made a weak attempt to hand pollinate them.

I just defoliated the tree, but it doesn't look like there will be many flowers coming as a result.

it would be great to get a fruit set this year...

in the meantime, enjoy this artist's rendition of what the fruit might look light...
