Looking for 'Ziman Pink' jackfruit plants / scions / cuttings
« on: September 05, 2012, 02:23:37 AM »
I can't seem to locate a source for 'Ziman Pink' jackfruit despite my best attempts at internet searching.  From the scant information I have found it sounds like a good variety for me to try and grow, if I'm going to be crazy enough to try and grow jackfruit at all.

Does anyone know of a source for 'Ziman Pink' grafted plants or scion/cutting material?

There's a fellow nurseryman here who grows it and sells it. He told me it's a small fruit with good quality. I haven't tried it yet.

For anyone else interested, ziman pink jackfruit can be obtained from "Plant It Hawaii ( www.plantithawaii.com ). It's a dwarf cultivar with fruit weighing 6-10 lbs each. Though not an expert, by any means, I consider this jackfruit variety to be the best I've ever tasted.

The tree stature is not dwarf, though fruits are quite small. Also flesh color is not pink, as name would suggest.

Very cool video...however, the fruit does not resemble the Ziman Pink we are familiar with.

Hi Ryan,
After reading them comments...I also came to that conclusion. This tree and fruit don't fit the description of Ziman Pink.

Kevin about a week ago Top Tropicals sent me an email letting me know some of the items that just became available from my wish list. The Zima Pink Jackfruit was one of them. Here is a link:

Hope that helps.

Like i mentioned before, TT gets pallets of plants shipped from Plant it Hawaii. So if the latter has it then they can eventually get it for you if you special order it.
