Thanks to everyone following this post. The greatest thing about this forum is always about sharing the information.
Hey DT, that is a great looking tree; and it does looke like Maha to me. Although i still have never owned one, but I've researching about it for a long time. Hopefully the tree I am gonna receive soon will look as nice as yours.
Gary, i am glad too that Mahas are getting into CA at a "reasonable" price. I have not received my Maha yet, the tree in the picture is DT's. He bought it from Top Tr. too. My tree willosy likely arrivr next Thursday; and i will grow it in a pot. I will post pictures once I receive it. Can't wait!

Looks like Adam's prediction on the price has just come true, TT has just lowered the Maha's price to $69.99, down by $20!

haha!

here's another prediction!

the cost will level out at about $40 retail for a 3gal tree.

based upon the calculations provided by my team of analysts, all 3 gallon mango trees (similar to those produced at Zill) will cost the same amount ($40), in 3-5yrs.

thanks Kh0110 for the update on the price drop!

PS, I just made a prediction based on my experience in trying to get a tree for myself, I have no inside info (or I don't realize I do!) I have not grafted any, and don't personally know of anyone who has!

Omg, $20 price reduction only four days after my order!? How big a chance you folks think I can ask for the price difference back from Top Tr.?

Don't shoot the messenger, Mike, but your tree arrives tomorrow! Still, you might want to give TT a call and argue your case.

Well, i called Top Tr. yesterday and told the lady on the phone that I was very upset to find out about thr price reduction, but I was not asking for a refund. What I asked for was to double my order to two Maha trees at the lowet price of $69.96 and I will pay for the difference. She agreed! So after after paying the difference, for the total of $196 including shipping, i will get two Mahas.
What is stange is that the lady told me there was delay for the shipment of Mahas to the nursery; therefore I won't get my trees until the 20th or 21st.
Well, i am happy with the new price and i will post tje pix when my trees arrive.

DT, i already have 23 different cultivars of mangos. Maha almost completes my collection. Wait a sec, i am still looking for Pina Colada and Angie. Angie is extemely to get now. Hopefully the additction to mango trees will stop!
Asaffron, i am glad and surprised Top Tr. is cooperative. I thoght they would be tough to work with; and that's also why I changed my order to two Mahas instead of just asking a price reduction. I figured they would probably do it since they make more money selling two trees.

cheers

I definitely would join in if there ever is a group from S. Cal that would order.  Excellent idea.

My 2¢ but you have enough mango variety there. Beware of the mango rush hour, here is Florida at least, where all those great varieties come in, in a 1.5 month window. So how many can really go ooh and ahh over? You will end up giving them away or selling in a few years when your trees get large
Mangoes--You have some early and late exceptions to the mango rush hour™ do you have them and when do they ripen in California?

I went  overboard myself. Better to apply the best nutrition and care to the ones you have

Hey Zands, my wife will totally agrees with you on giving the best care to the ones I already have! She hates me keeping buying more trees. I agree too, but it seems I just can't stop. I think one of the reasons is that in California our mangos grow so slowly and when I don't see much growth i get bored. Buying new trees keeps me excited all the time. However, i think it is time for me to stop now because I am running out of space.
As for the mango rush hour, i have never expericned it yet since i just started this hobby two years ago; and 99% of my trees are container grown because my yard is already fully landscaped and no more space for fruit trees in the ground. Trees in container in CA don't grow fast and I don't think I will get any fruit probably for another three years. I am looking forward to the Mango Rush Hour though. I wish I could move to FL one day!

Zands makes a valid point.

10 well tended trees can out produce 100 poorly managed trees.

hehe I'm probably in the minority opinion here, but since mango season in California is late and competes with cherimoya, I'd probably be investing in the cherimoya markets :-). You calipornians are luckier than flies on püüp that you can fruit cherimoyas out there. The ones we crazy floridians are able to buy in the markets taste like dirt, and $5 - $6 a pound, it costs us an eye and a tooth to have the decent tasting ones shipped out here. If I was popeye and my spinach were cherimoya, I'd be one weak and frail popeye.

Container growing mangoes is kinda cool, but there are very few mango trees that will actually do OK in an infinite container situation. Even if you go big and plop your trees into 25 gallon containers, you're not looking at more than a handful of fruit per year, unless you go with something well adapted to container culture (eg, a pickering). Then you have the headache of having to root prune / top prune every other year, since mango trees go into decline when not up-potted / re-potted every couple of years.

wouldn't it be nice if our properties / lots could grow along with our fruit trees.
Jeff  :-)

Like I said in the previous posts, the lady who I talked to at Top Tr. told me that there was a delay in receiving their shipment for the Maha Chanoks. Therefore, the order I placed on Dec. 3rd won't be shipped until the 17th.
I remember reading busbulie posting here that he knows the source of these Mahas where Top Tr. get them from. Does anybody know what is happening with Top Tr.'s Mahas?
