I even did not good captures. Some trees were completele covered in flowers. Amazing! Yes, the flowers are pretty fragant, in my opinion similar to jasmine.

At the research station they have some problems with dieback. Their guess is that it could be caused by the incredible productivity of the trees. So far they have been only working with Pantin. It would be very interesting to test other cultivars and find out if they would have the same dieback issues..

WOW! Awesome to hear they have a similar fragrance to that of jasmine...the station must be smell'n divine ;D

Indeed! The stress from being over productive, should be the main factor for the dieback.

Saff, I have not smelled miracle fruit flowers, in fact it`s a plant that so far I have missed to add to my collection  :-[

But regarding the smell of sapotacea flowers, I must say caimito smells amazing! Mamey smells good, but not very strong...

Siafu,

I was surprised no one who sells the tree, speaks of the quality of the flowers fragrance.

I'm happy you noticed!  I know the bees do.  The jam their faces into the tightly arranged petals of the flower!

Nice mamey flowers! My pantin mamey that was in a 7 gallon pot is also flowering near the graft union and more scattered towards to the top of the trunk.  :)

I'm jealous! I have a few mamey seedlings.. but  It's questionable whether they will ever successfully fruit in california!  Can't hurt to try though, right?  ;D
