This forum is easier to use. The editing and searching are kind of clunky on GF.   Still, it doesn't have to be an either-or proposition.

GF is a repository for a lot of fruitful wisdom from recent years. And I'm sure interesting posts will continue to bless both forums.

Samuel....well....being in South Florida I have had my experiences with Quebcois and the swarms of them that invade us every winter.  Frankly they can drive you a little crazy.  So crazy....that I had to marry one!  She's from Sorel.  Her family moved to South Florida in the mid 1970's.

Lol this is so funny I can't believe it! Does she still speak french well?

You need to understand us with our so cold winters with a lot of snow. People here like to go in the south to tale a little bit of sun. I never went to south Florida, I'd like too. I know a lot of pekple who goes there and quebecois espiecially old ones like to go there with their VR which I think is funny :).

Of course she speaks French like the native she is.  She left Quebec at age 12.  Every Sunday when the in laws come over....its French, French and then some more French.  I am getting a few words of vocabulary by exposure but am a far distance from being able to converse. I do understand more and more from 20 years of marriage. However,  I do much better with Spanish....which I sometimes lean on as French speakers can sometimes be better communicated to with Spanish instead of English.  You know it is a Romance language thing.

LOL sorry I'm learning english. I don't blame you, I know french is a really difficult language to learn. I'm proud that your wife still speaks it in the south and you try to learn a little :)

French is Latin like Spanish, Italian, and even Romanian. There are similarities between each language, but the closest one to Spanish is Italian.

the closes to Spanish is Portuguese. French is a difficult language to speak but very easy to read and write for a Spanish speaker.

I never joined the yahoo group, so I don't know about that, but...
...GW technology is ancient.  The advantages of this forum format include:
  • simple image upload
  • text formatting that doesn't require knowledge of html
  • emoticons   ;)
  • the ability to edit a post
  • search functionality

Also, this is a place we can call our own.

The best part of the "new" flag is that when you click on it, it automatically takes you to the posts you haven't seen yet!

Features i like,   Video Embed ,  Edit ( I am a terrible proof reader, and notice errors only after I post or sometimes i just forgot to add something ) and then the system that lists new messages in posts, so you know when new replies have been added.  The map is also cool, so I have a snap shot of where people are.

I agree this forum is alot easier to use and more user friendly.  :P  GardenWeb will still be a good repository for searching previous, useful posts.  ;D  Spell check is great!
