Citrus General Discussion / Sweetest Grapefruit Varieties
« on: January 17, 2019, 02:07:02 PM »
Hello everyone, I am on a mission to find the sweetest grapefruit varieties.  I just want the sugar sweetness, as much as possible.  If you have a variety that match this description, can I have the name of the variety and some scion woods?  I want want scions from the tree that you tasted that is sweet.  I have three unknown grapefruit trees, but they are more sour than sweet.  My family prefers the sweet ones.  They are so picky that I am so hesitate to go with the variety that my research online say is the sweetest: Oro Blanco.  I know other factors affect sweetness, but I want to start with the sweetest varieties first then work on the other factors afterward.

Thanks for the help.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Suggestions for two fruit trees
« on: September 08, 2018, 03:24:54 PM »
Hello Fellas,

I have two spots came up for two fruit trees In the Mira Mesa, San Diego area.  Previously I had a Caimito and Reed Avocado that died in those two spots.  The Caimito was doing so well for ¾ of year but this winter slowly wither it down and dried up last month.  The Reed was planted too deep, water rot and the high heat wave got it.   I need to put something else in that isn’t an Avocado or Caimito.  I am done with those two.  I currently have 3 Cherimoyas, 1 Lychees, 1 Longan, 1 starfruit, 1 Sapodilla, 1 Mango, and 1 Wax Jambu.  All those are doing very well.  I am currently and planning to multi graft all my trees.  I already have orange/grapefruit, white sapote, avaocado, jujube, persimmon, grapes, passion fruits, guavas in my parent’s place.  I am thinking some plants that are tropical and subtropical, but also need to consider that they will do okay in my area (10b).  What are you guys suggestions?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Troubleshoot Wax Jambu and Sapodilla
« on: November 16, 2015, 02:45:56 PM »
Hello everyone, I plant those two trees 1 week ago.  The Wax Jambu was not water for a whole week prior to planting and the rootstock base was dried when I plant it.  Some of the leaves had already started to turn color/brownish and now it is like what you saw in the pic.  Is this plant gone?

The sapodilla, I think is okay.  I am just curious about the discoloring and spots of the leaves.

Would appreciates any feedback you guys have.
