Anybody knows when is the right time to pick it? My fruit is been growing for
About 2/3 months and now is of the size I have seen of pics of mature fruits
But I read somewhere that they fell down on their own once ripe, anybody knows if this is correct or there will be any indication on fruit ripening?

Best to let them fall if you can keep an eye on it. I was told they are sometimes grown with nets to catch them so ants do not infest them on the ground. I was also told that they can be picked if they have a strong odor.

Ok ,then Im going to look out for the strong odor!
Funny thing but believe or not the only time I taste this Cupuassu relative call
Mocambo or Pataxte it had a strong odor and also I thought it had Durian flavor!

Raul , the shell is very hard , so not a problem when they fall but I am not sure if they drop when ripe , Mocambo doesn’t .
When are you home this week ?

In my experience both mocamboo/pastaste and cupuasu drop when ripe, unlike cacao. The cupuasu could even then need more ripening. For simply eating out of hand I think the pataste is better.

Peter is right. both cupuasu and mocambo do drop when ripe. Best not to pick them off tree. The theobroma that won't drop and will rot on tree if not picked is cacao.
