Mamey Sapote Tree
« on: October 04, 2019, 10:59:25 AM »
So this Mamey sapote tree is roughly 4 or 5 years old. The bottom growth started in the last year. And the branching is newer. But.....I'm wondering if it's growing right? Contemplating removing it for a Soursop that I recently got. Any and all opinions are appreciated!

Yes, that looks about right for a 4-5 year old mamey.

Plant looks like it’s barely alive.

Do they really grow in a straight spike like that??  All my pouterias branched early.

Not the ones I grew.  (That's one sad looking tree.  I'd go with the soursop.)

Yes, that looks about right for a 4-5 year old mamey.

My first mamey looks almost identical to the stick pictured. It looked like it was going to die with yellowing leaves a month ago but they all all all fell off and the stick appeared... I've been lightly watering it to make sure the soil was not too dry and thankfully there is now a flush of green leaves about to open on the top of the stick and two other spots down the stick beginning to send out leaves (hopefully limbs).
