heavy bearer...
« on: October 08, 2015, 07:20:27 AM »
Just a few photos I took this morning of one of my mango trees. I have never seen before such a quantity of fruits on a single tree. That tree is about 30 years old now. Fruits should be ripe by December.

Looks good but dont be shocked, surprised or upset if it drops a number of them.  I already see a number of them that are ready to drop.  What variety is it?

Oh yes I know, especially if it does not rain pretty soon now. But still, production should be important this year. Regarding the variety, i don't know exactly as I did not planted them myself. Those mango are pretty good actually although not as large as kate. I reckon it is an asiatic cultivar.

My father has a tree that usually flowers 2-3 times in a row. The tree has a huge fruit set but about 98% drop  :(.
The fruits are huge and has sweet white flesh with no fiber and a very thin seed. The only problem (other then mangos holding) is it gets some type of rotten part while on the tree, so we usually end up cutting out 1/3rd.
I think he said it was a keitt seedlng.

Hope yours works out better.

Looks beautiful, what season are you guys heading into over in France? I wonder if some Potassium will help sweeten up the fruit? Please keep us updated!
