ARTOCARPUS ID 2 ?
« on: August 12, 2018, 09:14:00 AM »
Another artocarpus I lost id. Just can't remember what it is but it is not a bread fruit. Could it be a marang as well ? That tree is also about 4 years old.

This one seems to be a Terap (marang) or a Pedalaï (Atocarpus sericicarpus). But if the leaves begin to be entires so it's a terap.

It's a. elascticus. Not marang for sure. It's a bit small for 4 year old. Foliar nutrient spraying works great on these.

Thanks for the id and the advice. How long it takes usually to start fruiting ? As they get huge, what about pruning or topping them ?

From what I remember reading, anywhere from 10 years to still not fruiting 15 years later.  In artocarpus family elasticus is most closely related to pedalai I think in growth habit, leaves, shape, etc... And pedalai wants to grow enormous no matter what you do for size control. This could be similar, difficult to control case.
