Loquat Gold Nugget in Florida

Hi, anybody has experience with Gold Nugget Loquat in Florida?UF said that this varietiy is not recommended to be grown in Florida!?I wonder why!I would like to buy this varietiy if is worthy.Thank you.

I have one in my yard. It has flowers on it right now for the first time in the three years I have had it. Like most loquats its extremely slow growing

Loquats are extremely slow growing?  Thats not how they grow here.

I agree with Brad-- I am also in southern California, but north of Los Angeles, and have a Big Jim loquat I bought from Home Depot that was about three feet high not long ago, maybe early June.  It is now well over five feet tall and is blooming!
