Indian Gooseberry
« on: October 21, 2013, 08:01:28 PM »
Hi,
My name is Gloria O'Byrne. I am new to this forum and basically joined because I lately have become intrigued by indian gooseberry. I live in Miami at the Earth n Us farm where we grow a variety of fruits including sapodillas, bananas, and papayas. I would like to purchase an indian gooseberry plant from somewhere. Any tips?
A million thanks..
Gloria

Hello and welcome!

By indian gooseberry i suppose you mean Amla? there are 2 different amla species commonly used, Phyllanthus emblica and phyllanthus acidus. The fruits have their differences. They are sour in taste and used commonly in preserves, although there is a delicious candied version of it. Also, it makes water taste sweeter after you eat it, pretty cool actually.
