Pepino Dulce is very easy to start from cutting’s.
I put 3-4 cuttings in a 1 gallon pot in the shade and wait a week or two.
The fruits have a very pleasant Melon flavor and texture without being too sweet.
Very nice shrub that will climb up tree’s or trellis to 8 ft.
Produces a lot of fruit and well adapted to shadier growing conditions.
Cutting’s 8+ inches and freshly cut the day I ship.
10 cuttings for $23 shipped to you.
Fall Special
Bulk cutting’s available 50 cutting’s for $50 shipped.
These have been selling well locally for $6 a pound for anyone interested in a larger plant out.

Drop a PM when you have a chance.
Thanks.

Well they arrived last week and they are planted... already sending out new leaves and shoots.
Arrived quickly and in fine shape!
Made about 32 plants... Bargain!
Thank!
Kevin Jones
-
Right on ! Thank you Kevin.
I will continue to have these cutting’s available
-
Mine to arrived and seemed to have rooted overnight.
Ive now gotten two orders and all plants are in good shape, though you do like your duct tape :)
Thanks again!
-
They arrived in great shape and after a few days seem to be pushing new growth. Thanks! D
-
Any idea which variety this is? Rio Bamba maybe?
Thanks!
Keith
-
Can’t say for sure Keith, I have a few different types though
-
Hello, do you still have this available? I have tried a few from local market, the texture and the juiciness is really good, but the flavor is rather bland. Does your variety taste sweet if we let it ripe on the tree? My South American friend told me the one she had in her country is as sweet as a ripe cantaloupe.
-
His varieties are delish, sweet like melon and juicy. I'm trying my best to root em out in Grodan wool, we'll see how it works! (first attempt not in soil)

Thanks! This is a must have!
-
Are these still available?
-
Does it need hand pollination?
I am planning to build a trellis to cover my back yard. I have purple and yellow passion fruit and concord grape. I am thinking what other variety I can add to it. Plant different varieties in each corner.
-
Yes , I still have cuttings available.
Hand pollination is not necessary, they readily set fruit.
-
Lots more cuttings available.
Bulk available, 25 cuttings for $43 including shipping.
-
Received the package today. Very generous extras. Thanknyou very much!
-
Do these bushes grow in Florida? Can they take the rainy season and humidity?
-
They grow fine so far here in Alabama.
I got some cuttings from him awhile back... they have rooted, are growing and now flowering.
So far so good.

-
Got my cuttings today. They look great! Extras too! Definitely would buy again. Thanks dude!
-
Glad the cuttings are arriving well!
Happy to send extra’s ! I have so many bushes of Pepino Dulce now that I am officially a Pepino farmer.
I should have alot of fruit for sale later this summer into fall.
-
Are you growing them on their own roots? or are you grafting them onto selected rootstock?
-
I just rooted them in moist soil - Easy!
Kevin Jones
-
I’ve never heard of anyone grafting Pepino Dulce .

Figured I’d post up my rooted cuttings. I would say these are humorously easy to root. :o
-
New bulk packs available.
Good time of year to root now and plant late winter/early spring.
-
Going to include fruit with cutting orders to all states its legal to do so.
-
Do these overwinter for you? Mine are fruiting heavily in pots. What to do with them as winter approaches?
-
i bought 5 small pepino plants from Andrewsgarden, Belgium, the plants grew big, but there were very few flowers, hardly more than 5 flowers from all 5 plants! And even those few flowers did not turn to fruit, not even one fruit. I cannot understand why. Do they have to grow 2 or 3 years old before they set fruit? Overwinter first? Near the Pepinos i planted two Lulo (solanum quitoense), one of them grew majestic, the other medium sized, the bigger one produced many flowers but all fell before setting fruit; the smaller one did not even flower.
Maybe, does it have to do with direct sunlight? The Pepinos receive indirect sunlight, but hardly any direct sunlight; the Lulo needs shade to grow anyway.
Any tips on growing Pepinos and Lulo?
-
Kevin, they should be fine under the oaks.
Put a few in the ground ! And back em up by making some more baby clones.
Giannhs, try giving them some direct morning or late afternoon sun for better fruit set.
Easy to clone so make more plants and keep trialing where they fruit best for you.
The Lulo have a pollinator issue here, they started getting pollinated when I planted more tree tomatoes and then this big bumblebee started visiting and thats the pollinator.

I planted mine out once they rooted and put them into large wide pots (5 gallon) with tomato cages. It seemed like when they rested on the cage they fruited? Dunno.
My pepinos are in full hard sun at 2200' elevation. I think they like sun.
-
Yes! Caging or trellising these prevent slug damage and help them ripen and color up properly.
I accidentally grew some up Feijoa bushes and its been a great companion plant with the pepino fruits protected and slightly shaded up in the Feijoas.

From what all people say, it was a mistake to plant Pepinos in a shady place and that without trellis or support; there are no slugs, but the Pepinos have a difficulty standing up by themselves as i saw. Pardon me if it is a stupid question, how do you clone the Pepinos?
-
Hi Giannhs, Jonah ships about 8" long cuttings. Just stick them in some soil maybe 1 /3 their length deep and water in. They root very easily. D
-
Mine arrived a day or 2 ago. Looking real good! Are there 2 varieties? There was a bunch tied together, and one solo stick. Wondering if they are different.
Thanks!
-
Received my cuttings in great condition, some rooting already!
Melons were tasty! very excited to grow them.
Thanks bro

Looking great! Are your plants protected or out in the open?
-
No cold protection, just leave it outside of the backyard.

Got mine yesterday. All were healthy, thanks Jonah. They all had roots coming from all the nodes that I had a hard time figuring which side goes up LOL

I need to see if any of my pepino melons made it through the winter. I think the ones in the back of my yard didn't but there may be one in a pot..... If not I'll be messaging you shortly.
Fyi your golden berries took some massive damage this winter, I cut the damage back and now I have a forest of golden berries.
Wind just picked up and my sinuses are angry!
-
My cuttings arrived today and look healthy and fresh! Thanks so much!
-
Threw them in a pot (late 3/2021) with some wet dirt, and here they are today:

They're awesome. You'll enjoy
-
These are exceptionally strong little cuttings. Capable of surviving even a very scary shipping fiasco.
-
Do they soften on the plant or how to know when to pick and eat?
-
Looks like I had some survivors.
Mine have seemed to bloom a few times and never set fruit? My only survivors right now are in a pretty shaded area under my passionfruit. I had some in a more exposed location that flowered like crazy last year but no fruit as well.
Am I missing something or just unlucky?
-
I think I can harvest this one soon and it is the only one I get so far.

I pick them when they're kinda yellowish. The outside shouldn't be super mushy, but if you push your thumb into it should kind of give way. You can leave them on the counter to ripen up for a little bit if picked green as well.
I've found they're pretty good either way. Over ripe is like an over ripe melon and can get kinda starchy but still palatable, under ripe is like a cucumber.
Before I didn't eat the skin but now I just chow it, don't even notice it.

I have cutting’s available again.
