I will be in the Tampa area early august and hoping to buy a butterscotch sapodilla, I’m willing to drive to the Miami area for it. Anyone know where there might be some in stock?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Maprang in ground zone 10A?
« on: March 16, 2020, 09:39:37 PM »
I would love to grow a tree but South Florida is warmer than here. It gets to low 30s here plus it’s very windy 30-45 miles per hour wind is pretty common. If I plant it I think it needs a lot of babying plus I would probably need to build a green house around it. Maybe down the road when I have abit more free time and more experience with growing fruit trees

Thanks for all your replies. It gets pretty humid here, I live half a hour from beach and on the ressaca, I don’t think the rasacca makes a difference unless I plant right next to the water. Sound like the maprang won’t fruit here so I’ll just stick with growing mangoes

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Maprang in ground zone 10A?
« on: March 13, 2020, 02:33:04 PM »
I saw a grafted 7g maprang for $105 is that a good price? the staff said to treat it like a mango. From my understanding maprang is more cold sensitive but maybe I’m wrong? Will maprang do well in zone 10a in ground and does it need a pollinator?

I’ve never thought of them being overly chilled but it is very possible! Well whatever the reason is I give up on trying to sprout the purple yams from grocery stores😂

Hi does anyone know why some sweet potatoes I bought from the store won’t sprout? I bought five varieties and two varieties didn’t sprout. I tried the purple sweet potatoes three times from three different stores with no luck. The purple potato had “purple yam” labeled at the store and the other one also had a yam label I think. Has it been treated with something to prevent it from sprouting? if so can I do anything to get it to sprout? The purple one look like HAWAIIAN OKINAWAN SWEET POTATO

Hi, does the Annona diversifolia make fruit that taste the same or very close to the parent tree?  I’m in usda zone 10, are the the Quararibea cordata and Annona diversifolia suitable for my climate?

Thank you for all your response, I found some additional helpful information on tropical acres. I was going to to return one tree if they are similar or the same but I decided against that. I have almost 9 acres and won’t be running out of room any time soon :)

If not then what’s the difference? Which taste better? I have both and not sure if I should get rid of one..
