I’ve never seen the arils of orange crush. Maybe someone can post a photo? My orange seedling came from a j-31 seedling tree, and the grower had an orange crush next to it. Not sure if it cross pollinated with the orange crush. I’m still looking for a nice red variety.

I have a seedling of a J31 that produces dark pumpkin orange fruit that ripen around October. I’ve seen three other people’s TMR fruit and they looked identical to mine with the yellow pink two toned color. Included photos of my pumpkin orange seedling.

Both fruit split. One wasn’t close enough to being ripe and the second started to rot from all the rain as I let it tree ripen after splitting. Both weighed in around 35lbs. Sadly, not as red as advertised.

Mine is holding its first fruits. Two nice size fruits almost ready to pick.

Photo was taken about a month ago:

How long did it take to bear fruit? Did you buy the tree from nursery?

Still impatiently waiting. The fruits are getting large and one seems to almost be ready. This trea was a 7 gallon from Excalibur planted in 2019.

They look to be a large fruit variety. It’s already looking to be close to a 30lb fruit.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Ilama (Annona diversifolia) And flooding?
« on: November 17, 2020, 09:29:15 PM »
I’ve tried to find the flood tolerance of ilama, but haven’t found any information. Does anyone have one on its own roots (not pond apple) that can share your experience? Just trying to determine if I need soil to plant on a mound or just let it deal with the ebb and flow of the south Florida rainy season.

I was hoping to sell locally and resort to shipping if they don’t sell.

Thanks, cleaning out the shade house, too many plants I need to get rid of before they get neglected  haha

I’ll have some in November and maybe trees

By any chance, would you have trees small enough to ship?

19
Its an assumption, but it could be related to enzymes in the plant needing a specific temperature for cellular processes to work.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Round Achachairu seeds
« on: January 24, 2020, 07:48:55 AM »
We planted a significant amount of these seeds we sourced from Raul last year.  These seedlings for us have been growing 2x faster than other Achachairu seeds we have sourced from various sellers.  I believe we have around 200 achachairu trees/seedlings growing at our farm that range in size from 7-8ft. to newly planted seeds. We grow more Garcinias now than any other type of fruit tree.

Dang, 2x faster? I have a regular achachairu that is 3 years old and about 6 feet tall. Its my fastest garcinia. That'd be awesome if these grew faster!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Dovyalis hybrid (tropical apricot)
« on: November 17, 2019, 08:37:40 PM »
Does anyone have photos of the fruit from their prodigal variety? My tree from garden of delights finally produced fruit and they seem to be Dovyalis hebecarpa. They taste horrible (like eating a grapefruit skin) and have seeds. I had tropical apricots many years ago that were orange colored and looked like little peaches that tasted amazing, but were sour.
