Red Jabo

Planted this 25 gallon red jabo 11 months ago. Has started fruiting last November, but just a couple fruit here and there. This week dunno what changed but it has blooms and fruit up to some of the tiniest branches. This is just from one side. Other side has about same. Very happy with this little tree.

If you prune the inner most branches so the sun hits the trunk it will fruit more. Same goes for any jobo.

Yup I prune and thin the canopy  qs needed to let sun hit the trunks.

As for age of tree not 100% sure. Was bought as a very nice 25 gallon. So not sure how long the nursery had it for. It's been in my ground for 11 months.

No just becomes dark red. This is a red jaboticaba not one of the black varities. (or dark purple if you prefer to call it lol)

no idea, while earlier fruiting than most other varities, the red jabo is not a fast grower compared to other types of fruit trees. My older one that has been in ground about 4 years really has not grown much at all but does produce fruit.

I don't find it tasty. Tannic, bitter, relatively thick.
