Last year i noticed a few damaged fruits on one tree. This year both of my old trees(guessing as old as house, built in 1960) are loaded with damaged fruits.
Anything i can do?

Posting this from my not so smart phone.
I'm going to post pics, but I'm seeing leaf burn for lack of a better term on the following.
Marang, Jack, a few eugenia,  and rollinia.
I believe I used miracle grow potting soil,  I had a bunch. Probably not the best choice.  As for the Rollinia I was out of town for several days and it did get pretty dry : (.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / garcinia prainiana seedling image request.
« on: November 20, 2016, 09:33:31 PM »
If anyone has pictures of garcinia prainiana seedlings just popping up can you please post. I moved a bunch of pots indoors when Hurricane Mathew came around, regrettably I only labeled the first pot in every row. Had a couple friends help, they didn't really understand the importance of keeping track. My fault for running out of label tags. :(

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Potted Rollinia first flowers!
« on: September 09, 2016, 07:54:17 PM »
Noticed my Rollinia's first flowers this afternoon. Kind of exciting, although I have no expectations of fruit.
Currently in a 15gal, age: roughly 4yrs. The pot situation is hopefully temporary, goal is to buy a house within a year.
I have 3 planted in Hollywood from the same seed batch, the oldest in ground also flowered this year but much earlier.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / camu camu seedling care?
« on: August 27, 2016, 01:09:28 AM »
First off, 100% germination, seeds from fruitlovers.com. Unsure were to place seedlings. Those under shade cloth reach for sun, those still in partial shade\full have burnt edges.
 advice?

After success with my top 3 mango post, thanks again for the info!
Jumping to jack. I love jackfruit, I'm looking for a manageable fruit size, flavor, crunchy, quality. I have done a lot of research but somewhat difficult to nail down.
I also am interested in similar threads regarding sugar apple, abiu, sapodilla. But don't want to hog the forum. My point is, I've learned from the thread if your going to plant, plant the best available. But this info is hard to research outside the forum.
Thanks for the input!

I know this may be crazy to ask. But if you had to pick 3 mango's to grow in South Florida which varieties would the mango educated choose? My plan is to get a jump on grow out on some harder to find trees including mango, before purchase of a house. I'm going more for quality/flavor, and disease resistance verse production.

« on: March 09, 2013, 11:29:42 PM »
I have been thinking about growing passiflora alata. Anyone had any experience with the species in our region. Also hows the quality of fruit compared to other passion fruits?

Ok need ideas, have plenty of room and want to get some new stuff growing. im located in Hollywood, Florida with a lake front property of which a section often floods in summer. The list of presently growing is as follows.
lychee, lokwat, mamey, pink quava, jackfruit, sugar apple, meyer lemon, key lime, soursop, sapodilla, mulberry, sour orange, bannana, pappaya, passion fruit( currently working on several species), fig, mango, avacado, Barbados cherry,..... I think that's it
species in consideration are:
Abiu - seems to be a definite, i need to track down some seeds
llama
biriba - not sure how well it would do
jaboticaba - for the area that occasionally floods
icecream bean - for the same area
wax jambu or maley apple - never tasted, not sure id even want it.
white sapote - sounds cool
Garcinia family - no idea where to find any or what will fruit
Any thoughts, anything i missed, or opinions please share
thank you
