Can you take picture of the purple dragon fruit vine? I bought one at exotica in vista last year. It is very thorny, and not flower yet. Have you tried the fruit yet? Is it sweet like the red one?

Most of the purple flowered "Dragon Fruit" grown in Southern California is Connie Mayer.

Connie Mayer is the creation of an epiphyllum hybridizer named Eckhard Meier.

Connie Mayer has a pretty flower, but small and not the best tasting fruit.

More recently we are seeing Edgar Valdivia's purple flower Dragon Fruit hybrid he calls Asunta 4.

Connie Mayer and Asunta flowers look the same.

Nice fruit.

My Bruni should bloom in the next 3-4 days.  It's a sister of Connie Mayer.

Why the flower has fancy color if most of the time it opened at dark night?

Most dragon fruit flowers open around 8pm that I have encountered.
