This is how we freeze durian.
« on: October 02, 2012, 08:02:48 AM »

Seeds removed, fingers licked, bag pressed flat and sealed with a candle.  This bag of durian has been frozen for 8 months.

A friend gave me maybe 8 or 9kg of frozen durian from his luangs, gumpuns, montongs and D101's in his yard. They have massive arils with shrivelled seeds and I don't know how long they last because they go so fast.In his yard I keep looking up just to make sure nothing will drop on me.

Red Durian,
Have you had the red durian I hear that is very prized in Thailand?   How does it taste compared to the yellow.  I can only get frozen durian here.

The red durian is nothing like durian flavour-wise.  Try searching this forum for Durio graveolens.  A lot has been said by me and others about this special durio species.

Red durian nowhere to be seen in Thailand. For that you have to go to Borneo.

Sealed with wax? What kind of wax? Is this a zip lock bag or a regular bag?

That looks like regular bag. I just froze some durian. If you use a freezer type thick zip lock bag you certainly don't need to use wax.

hmmm, why do you have to freeze durian. I like eating it raw but there are lots of people afraid of its smell. We can make steamed sticky rice with durian  8) 8) 8) omg, its so yummy
