Anthracnose on mango flowers
« on: February 14, 2019, 05:07:16 AM »
We have been having a lot of rain here in east central Florida and think I have anthracnose on my LZ that is having its first major bloom. I sprayed it heavily with cooper fungicide as with fl CC about a month ago when it had the first signs of flowering. The CC looks great but the flowers haven’t opened yet. So I need to get some more cooper fungicide and spray heavily.
My question is do I spray on the flower panicles in addition to the leaves?
Do I treat the CC different from the LZ since the flowers are just starting to open vs the CC and the LZ is done flowering for the most part?

It might not be anthracnose. Maybe post pictures when you get a chance. Powdery mildew is generally what we see this time of year, and copper isn't all that effective against it. Lemon zest is particularly susceptible to PM.

Today I see a lot of the flowers have fallen off but they were swollen black like double the size of the normal flower when open.

Hmm. I do see what looks to be some PM, but hard to tell. Not 100% sure if there's something else going on. Lack of fruit set can also be from exposure to cold or lack of nutrients.

I had to spray sulfer on my LZ last season in the same cold wet conditions we have this time of year in central Florida

I love to prune but hate spraying but if you want fruit you do what you have too

Anything that is going to take heavy spraying in order to survive will get replaced eventually
