From what I can see in the pics, it aplears that all of them have "taken". Congrats.

Flushing is the new growth that occurs several times each year. Anytime you change the environment with citrus you get some reaction. Give a little time and things should right themselves.

Cold Hardy Citrus / Re: My Citrumelo is blooming

Typically it will bear a few fruit this first year. They will not be edible as the poncirus will shine through. Next year should be a better crop.....still not a tasty fruit.😁

In CA. You should not need foil if you ussd parafilm to wrap hour scion in. That should keep it from drying out. If anything I would cover my cleft graft with a plastic bag and create a greenhouse effect for it.

Cold Hardy Citrus / Re: Arctic Frost Satsuma experience

I have planted and grafted the Artic Frost mandrin and have found it less hardy than Owari, Armstrong, Brown Select and Early St Anne. In fact I found it impacted at 28 and29 degrees....leaf burn and twig die back while standard mandrins suffered no ill.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: Is My citrus tree dying?
« on: March 01, 2020, 08:43:32 AM »
I can see why this tree has a value to you. Truth is it is lucky to have survived at all. The truth is that citrus trees are heavy feeders and require quite a bit of fertilize. A two year old tree requires several lbs of a complete fertilize several times a year. Most folks do not realize that in order to have a vibrant tree fertilize and good care are required. Sounds like you want your tree to be happy. Good luck.

For the mandrin graft Kishu if you really like mandrin taste. For the lemon pull the Meyer up, throw it out and plant a good Eureka.....😁

When you keep a tree pruned sometimes you remove the fruiting wood. If this is done you might get very few bloom, few fruit and without seed..........

You can do it now. I like temps to be in the 7ps. Im in zone 9 and my favorite time to graft and bud is April. Bark is slipping good so you can bud.....rootstock will take a cleft graft. I graft some during winter. Mild weather makes me do it.

Were it my trees, I would use neem oil. Now is the time to spray. Temps are not tol high in your area. After you have used thd oil spray and the sooty mold starts to flake, a good wager spray will help remove it. Bayer and  lnide are both good systemic controls.

Usually.......black sooty md is the result of pest feces on the leaves and stems of citrus. Can gou post a pic so I can determine what pest you have? A good spray and follow up sprays should spell the end of pest that leavd honeydew on citrus.

For granular fertilize I use 1/2 lb per year of age of tree. For macronutrients  depends upon how you are gonna apply it. For fish emulsion follow the mixing directions on the bottle. Spray in April and June. If using Epsome salt drench or dry bloodmeal also follow box recommendations. Different makers use different proportions.

I have read and studied many "cures" and other systems for combating hlb.  I know you can read anything on the net and I do so regularly.  I live in an area that is full of live oaks and my small grove is surrounded by them.  I have for many years  used tree canopies for many reasons...hlb combating is not one of them.  Citrus and their many rootstocks thrive in understory conditions.  Trees provide protection from the cold, protection from heat and hail and wind.  They provide a leaf much if so desired.  The species of tree matters not.  I think that I would not go to any great expense to acquire live oak trees and mulch and expect it to combat hlb at this time.  I know of no "cure" at this time and I am waiting patiently to find one.  Trees are still croaking and groves are still being destroyed.....good luck with your trees.  Hope you have a bountiful crop when it is time.

Not necessary to work fertilize in. On ground application around the tree and limited to canopy shade. Micronutrients can be applied as a foilular spray, drench or dry on ground as done with bloodmeal. Watering in after fertilization is a way to get nutrients to the tree in a quicker manner.  You know when your fiirst flush is.....so 3 weeks before first flush is when my Spring fertilize program starts.

I am in zone 9. I start feeding 3 weeks before the first flush in Spring and I fertlize every two months till End of August. I do not fertilize again till Spring. During the summer I will spray or top dress with some micro nutrients......like fish emulsion or blood meal.   I use 13-13-13 as recommended by LSU ag center. 1/2 pound per year of tree age. This works well for me.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: Extra thorny Meyer lemon
« on: January 30, 2020, 08:26:49 AM »
:Meyer lemon is famous for producing long water sprouts.......especially  if you have a wet season. I trim them out or if they are in a place that can support a good limb  l just cut them back and let them branch out. Meyer usually starts bearing at an early age and since it is usually a cutting, bears from the bottom uo. It takes a few seasons to get a whole tree coverage. New growth in the top does not always bloom & fruit.
