Any chance Maryoto you can find Willughbeia elmerii? Suppose to have giant size sweet fruit?  I am sure Ricardo & I are salivating for it!  I got some awhile back from Rarepalmseed & they got it from Borneo!😄

This species are very rare in here(Muara Teweh, central borneo).
No one cultivate this species in here, only can be found in deep jungle.
While the willughbeia season are almost over.

But i have contacted the local peoples to find me the fruits, hopefully they can get it.
If i can't get it, next season on february i will hunt this species again.

Hi Jack,

Never seen japanese mangosteen before.
There's no way mangosteen from seeds can produce fruits in two years.
Takes at least 4-5 years until the seedlings can reach a height of 75 cm.
Wanasaya mangosteen variety from indonesia need 3 years to produce fruits from seeds, and it also uses the technique of grafting.

The shape of the skin are different.
Baccaurea macrocarpa has sweet taste without sour taste, but Baccaurea sp/Luwi has sweet taste with a slightly sour taste.
