Secret to a Full Mango Bloom
« on: February 26, 2014, 08:39:27 PM »

Found the secret to a full mango bloom!  Mulch the tree with as many broken down lawn mowers as one can fit under the tree canopy.  Throw in any extra scrap metal for good measure.  Then ignore tree!

lol My Valencia Pride is completely ignored and large and it still doesn't bloom. Maybe it just needs some broken lawn mowers, but the city inspectors might give me a fine... lol ;) :P

Alexi, move the tree to South Dade. Seems like every mango tree has come up to full bloom. Every where I look there are mango blooms.

I assume the mowers should be organic.

lol I think my valencia pride would be hard to move.. ;)  Many of the huge 30-40 ft tall mango trees are in full bloom just a few houses down across the street. The mango trees in my back yard also have a decent amount of  blooms. I guess it depends on the cultivar and the micro-climates.

Holy cow Duncanyoung. I dont know if I should congratulate you on your mango discovery in your back yard or send you a " I buy ugly home" letter.  I am a rehab investor & yup tons of abandone homes in west palm beach & that is the type of backyard with giant mango trees blooming right now with rusty cars underneath.  Hope they set nice fruits before i sell my rehabs. ::)
