Owari Satsuma fruit damage question
« on: May 04, 2020, 04:16:46 PM »
Time for my weekly question. ;) A few of my Satsuma fruits have a brown substance on them. Is this insect damage? I had a mild thrip situation which hopefully seems have been rectified with neem oil. Tree is inside as our night temps are still in the 30s. Nothing similar on my Meyers or calamondin fruit, only on couple of the Satsumas. It scrapes off fairly easily. Ideas?
Thank you to Millet and everyone on this board, you have been a great help to this paranoid newbie.

That's a lemon, not a satsuma.

It could be Citrus Scab (Verrucosis) but i am not sure. The plant in your photo is of course a lemon 100% sure. Are you sure the other citrus you have are meyer and calamodin?

Omg are you kidding me? I'm going to lose it, I made the mistake of ordering from the wrong company in effort to get a gift here in time for my wifes birthday.(they were the only that would ship in time) they sent one half dead stick and now apparently the other was the wrong tree. I've emailed them twice about the other tree with no response and now .... and its possibly diseased on top of everything else!!

Luckily the others were from a local nursery.

You can often find citrus trees now at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes.  I have been seeing them every year.  They usually have mandarin, lemon, lime, kumquat, and olives.

Fourwinds Growers, Harris Citrus, and Logees are good mail order suppliers, too.
