Received plants today from Rareseeds.com. Can anyone provide the seed source for these DF variety since they were propagated from seeds, not from cuttings? Thank you.

Each seed produces a new different DF variety.  The only way to get the "Edgar's Baby" variety is from a Edgar's Baby cutting.

I actually sent an email to Edgar asking him about the original source (DF variety) of these plants. We will know when he responds to the inquiry.

I have seen this clone popping up a few places -- I suspect it has been tissue cultured.

Yes confirmed it is tissue culture. But I wonder why they would pick such an unknown cultivar I cant find anyone growing it with success.

If I remember the story correctly, Joe Simcox was visiting Edgar Valdivia one day and while sampling dragon fruit thought that this particular seedling was the best of those that he tried.  Edgar generously gave him a cutting to propagate, and when asked about the name said "call it what ever you want." So Joe took it back to Baker Creek for propagation and named it Edgar's Baby.

I have been growing one out for two years now, and hopefully I will get fruit this season.

Cheers,
Richard

Edgar told me that another one of his creations is being tissue cultured and a friend shared a link to its online sales.

I forgot  :-[  the name.

Richard, Do you know which variety it is?

I got my Edgar's Baby from Logees a while back. Hopefully I will get it on a trellis in a few weeks. I am really looking forward to tasting this one and selling it here in Florida to spread it around once it gets established.

I have an Edgar's Baby, but it's still small. I can't remember where I got it - but since somebody mentioned Logee's, that might have been it. I bought multiple plants from them, including an Australian Beach Cherry, I think it was last Fall... The only way I can even keep track of my plants is by logging them into an Excel spreadsheet when I plant them, and then making notes throughout the year if I notice changes. You know you have a problem when...   Anyone up for starting a Fruit/Plant Addicts Anonymous group? :)
