Title: Lean Mean OD Green Lethal Hostile Mobile Styrofoam Cups
Post by: Mango_Seed on August 17, 2019, 06:06:23 PM
Perhaps if Styrofoam was OD Green instead of white it would not blow around the neighborhood and be a eye sore but could be used like perlite in a soil mix? Patent Pending.

Lol,  but perlite is white,  styrofoam already kinda looks like it.

Maybe aquamarine would be a better color so the styrofoam island offshore is also less of a eyesore?

If you are concerned about plastic islands in the sea, there is a big ,,pest,, that can fix the problem .Its called the wax moth and normally its larvae eats wax but it can eat and break down plastics verry efficient.

Whoa,  very cool,  had never heard of them.

Sounds like they probably wont be put into use tho due to likely impact on bees per this article:

They dont do too much harm to the bees. But they cause damage to beekeepers because for one kilo of wax, bees have to eat 10 kilos of honey.
If wax moth caterpillars eat one kilo of wax a year then the beekeeper looses 10 kilos of honey wich its quite expensive.
But otther than that they dont kill the bees .I have these moths and i dont even treat for them because the bees themselves take the wax moths larvae out of the hive.
And to kill these moth larvae, there is a safe and verry effective bilogical control,Bacillus Thuringiensis,a bacteria that enters the caterpillars digestive system and kills them.
B.Thuringiensis is also good to het rid of any caterpillar in case you have them eating your trees. It doesnt affect the bees larvae.
