If I had to pick just one, I would say the honor goes to Lemon Zest. The 32 Brix Lemon Zest we had at our latest mango tasting was a reminder why it is my favorite variety of mango. It is supremely sweet with a rich thick velvety smooth mouth feel and an absolutely delicious citrus flavor that intensifies as you get closer to the flesh closest to the skin.

I brought one in to work and split it with 10 people and everyone was floored and said that was the best mango they have ever tasted.

I sort of agree with you but if you would've had the sweet tart I had today, from our friend AZ, you might have had second thoughts. Brix 28 incredible sweet and tangy but unlike LZ the flavor is so concentrated from the first bite to the last. This one catapult over señorita and more than challenges the perfect 32 brix Lemon Zest we had in the tasting it beats it

Always a battle for these 2 the ST and the LZ.... Has anyone attempted to cross the two? May be that can be called the Sweet and Sour Mango..

One of the Sweet starts that AZ sent home with me after the Mango tasting was one of the best mangos I’ve ever had but I still give the edge to Lemon Zest. I think it’s just personal preference and I’m really partial to the citrusy taste of Lemon Zest.

Lemon Zest and Sweet Tart are two of the top favorite mangos in my book but I really like to mix things up to cleanse the palate because these two heavyweights have a knock out punch of sweetness and intense flavor that can overwhelm taste buds. Kesar would be a great palate cleanser in between these two heavyweights and it would hold its own in a top ten list, especially if there are Indian resin flavored Mango lovers on the tasting panel.

The three varieties listed above would make up the Trinity and you can get the four horseman of the apocalypse if you throw in a Coconut flavored Mango such as E4 or Coconut Cream.

You can get the same citrusy flavor with Mallika so it's not unique to LZ. AZ grows ST on many rootstocks you have to find out where it came from. I've fruited LZ for 5 years and it has had many down years in between. But it terms it of concentrated and intense flavor ST can not be beat. Personal preference is purely subjective but what is certain the predominance of Sweet Tart in the last 4 years

To be fair, I have found that taking any mango that is not a Hayden or Tommy Adkins to work usually results in floored co-workers that claim it's the best they've ever tasted. Most people have never tasted any properly ripened mangoes.

Dee, that is very true. I also brought Sweet Tart and Valencia Pride in to work that same day and one person said they liked Sweet Tart more because it tasted more like a real Mango.

I can’t wait to see how some of the newer varieties such as Cotton Candy and Phoenix will hold up at a mango tasting.

It’s not from PI it’s a seedling from Hispaniola.

I didn't have as much as last year but i did have a lot of different types.

LZ (not as good as last year though)
Venus
Coconut Cream (Irma broke the tree)
Pickering (Had and exceptional single specimen from a potted tree)
Valencia Pride (I had some really good mango-y juicy and slightly creaming ones this year)
Valcarrie (First year I had them in quantity)

Few disappointments this year though:
Kathy (from Zills, washed out, tried and different times of ripeness, I'll try again next season)
Fruit Punch (I like it but not as much as i though i would)

According to Rob it's a Carrie seedling but so much better in my opinion

Big round fruit with citrus flavor around skin and seed but much more

Flavors vary with hints of cantaloupe and creamy goodness with many other flavors that come and go

How good is it, we compared it to sweet tart and some bites won
