Want to post my unfortunate experience here - this seller is no longer responding to what's app messages, after initially saying 'post cannot be shipped' - this is not true as many seeds arrived lately.

Also won't give a refund (despite saying that he would).

I expect him to reply and say that 'your post cannot be delivered due to coronavirus blah blah' - if that's the case, give a refund as promised, or at the very least communicate and reply to my messages.

You've been warned - caveat empor
Excuse me,
I never accept order to Thailand this season.
So who did you bought seeds from??
Give me the seller name, and give me your complete name and your complete address so we can know the truth.
And post in here the screenshots of your conversations with the seller.
No need to talk too much, give evidence or you are just a slanderer.

I have purchased seeds from Maryoto numerous times over the years and my experiences have been nothing
less than excellent. He has always responded to  my emails and PMs in a timely manner and there has never been
a problem with any of the seeds he has shipped.

I'm sorry to see a trusted seller receive such a negative post.

I've bought seeds from Maryoto too before. Not only did they arrive alive, they arrived so alive that they had grown a tangle of roots around each other ;)  (it's tough to ship to Iceland, takes a long time!).  Sadly none survived transplant (suboptimal environment, must try again at some point), but everything on Maryoto's end was top notch.

Hi,

I've had replied your message.
I'm don't know if my species can grow in Alabama or not, perhaps you can ask from other members.

We have properties in Florida as well. I'll research it based on the PM you sent, so it can determine where and how we plant the varieties you have.

I must say this about Maryoto, you can depend on the guy, I live in South Africa and if anything arrives here which you have ordered from overseas it is a miracle, but lo and behold  before I could bat an eyelid Maryoto's packet with seeds was here (he went to the trouble to send it with DHL). I planted it right away, but the Willughbeia seeds have not germinated yet, despite that I have it in peat pellets on a heated propagator (which cost me a fortune). How long does it take to germinate?

Some great stuff there Maryoto especially in the Artocarpus and Nepheliums but some other winners as well. The Durio cross was described by friends as something really good. Smooth and especially ridged dulcis x zibethinus in Borneo seem to have some of my friends excited. The mangosteen is a bit pointed. Is is a bit sourer than usuaul with fewer seeds? It might not be mesta if you got it from Borneo especially if the fruit are very big.

Pretty scummy of you to slander his good name and tell lies. It's a shame that people like you are on this forum making it a hostile environment.  Keep that crap out of here please.

Thanks brother

Just wanted to comment on the seeds of received from maryoto and other Bornean sellers.
First off awesome collection of seeds. Spent a pretty penny collecting these seeds. Killed quite a few species trying to see what works and doesn’t work. Growing in 9a/9b climate. Can attest to some cold hardiness of these species. I have a full list available of the plants that have survived below 40 for a brief period of time. Might not sound like a lot but it’s immensely important for zone pushers. In terms of durio species because someone mentioned it, I have two out of twelve different durio hybrids/species still alive. These survived the mentioned below 40 amongst other plants bought from Maryoto.
You bet I will be first in line to have another round of purchasing plants to see what survives. Some of these may be more cold hardy than we think. Just have to see which ones are and which ones aren’t.

Did you order with a permit?(small lot of seed?) Am going to order some seeds later this year, just don't want customs to kill them.

No permit whatsoever. I’ve only used a permit with Beni and he put it inside of the box which was never opened. Never have had anything taken up from Borneo for me. Might just be the luck of the draw but these guys do a good job prepping and sending these packages. Received 3 packages to Nashville no issues. I know you’re close by so don’t know if that helps

Wow, durian surviving below 40? That is insane! How much below and for how long? I would never think that possible!

Keeping a plant alive vs getting a plant to produce quality fruits is 2 entirely different things. To think you’ll actually get a durio sp. to ever fruit in Texas is pretty far-fetched to say the least.  The climate in Borneo is just drastically different than Texas’.
Title: Re: BORNEO SEASON 2020: Tropical rare fruit seeds for sale
Post by: Andreas Gia on December 24, 2020, 01:00:59 AM
Brief exposure. Overnight temps dipped below 40 but there was also no wind as durians are said to react negatively to wind.

In regards to growing durian in texas, if you really think I’m growing it for the fruit you are mistaken. The climate is nowhere close to the native range. That’s not the point of this exercise. Then again you never know unless you try. Some things were at once thought impossible, but have been proven otherwise. I’m not saying I’ll get a durian tree to produce fruit, let alone reach let’s say 5 years old. It’s more so to test the boundaries of what’s possible.
