Tropical Fruit Discussion / Sunburn on abiu fruit
« on: June 25, 2023, 07:08:07 PM »
This is the second year I'm getting a large crop in my abiu tree.
I noticed this last year as well but after vertical branch snapped all the fruit that formed exposed to the midday sun had brown scalds on it. Doesn't seem to affect the flavor that much but it misshapes the fruit. I don't scoop it right up to the brown scalds though.

My tree grows very lanky so that doesn't help, anyone else has this problem?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Is this sabara 5, crown 1-3?
« on: April 09, 2023, 01:38:46 PM »
It's been a few years growing this mystery jaboticaba.
Since then Ive has a few forums members who know a lot more than I do on plinias check it out.
I bought this from a forum member and it ended up not being a red. All good though, he told me the original source was pine Island nursery. He must have gotten it around 2015.
I'm leaning to sabara 5 but I can't find much description about the tree.
Some observations I've seen from the tree is that the tree flushes new growth at the same time, leaves start off brown then expand into green and it's very brittle.
What do you guys think?

Anyone else get this problem? Are there solutions?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Candy Corn Mango (and Watermelon Splash Mango)
« on: February 28, 2023, 10:36:06 AM »
Does anyone have any info on Candy Corn mango?
ZHPP says:
"Med Size Fruit, Very Sweet, True Mango Flavor"

Tropical acres farms says:
"Candy Corn was a chance seedling selected by the Zill High-Performance Plants nursery.
It reportedly has an Indochinese-type flavor.
We obtained a Candy Corn tree in 2020 for evaluation in West Palm Beach. Thus far it has grown very slow and compactly, perhaps dwarf-like. It first flowered in 2022 but did not hold onto any fruit. We are optimistic it can produce mature fruit for the first time in 2023."

I'm trying to not get involved with more mangos but I would happily plan something that had a rich classic mango flavor (something like Baileys Marvel)
I have enough Indochinese ones

Concerning Watermelon Splash mango:
I heard a worker from ZHPP mention it in a recent video from fruitful trees, does anyone know the row/column number of this tree or anything about it?

I got a few things ready in these nice shippable 3.5" pots.
I can fit 4 in a medium USPS, shipping is free if you buy 4 plants. Otherwise, it's $15
Edit: sorry I do mention but i can only ship to the states that allow it without any certificate. No CA, AZ, etc

3.5" Pot - Vexator Jaboticaba - $10

3.5" Pot - Red Hybrid Jaboticaba - $15

15
As the title said I'm selling red hybrid and blue (vex.) jaboticaba.
That red are from my tree the blue are from f&s Park.

Heres a typical shot. The reds don't like my city water on their leaves so I plan to pot them up and put them on drip.

I'm selling them in a set of 4 (mix and match) for $50. Shipping included.
Can't ship to CA or other states that don't allow it.
Pm me if interested.

I should have enough to fill a few boxes.

Most of my atemoya are fruiting this year.
Apparently I got African pride scions instead arka sahan when I ordered them years ago.
So anyone who ordered arka sahan from me got African pride as well.
Sorry for the mix up, I never wanted AP, I was aiming to trial as many of the new annonas in soflo so this is a step back. I might try topworking it in spring.

Below is a pic of a calostro and an AP I picked this week.
AP is smaller

« on: May 23, 2022, 11:48:26 PM »
Hey everyone, I was trying to document my yard over the years with pictures but now that most of the trees have grown into each other it seems like a video makes more sense.
First up annonas

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Selling 1 gallon grafted annonas
« on: May 03, 2022, 11:16:51 AM »

Hey everyone.
Over the last few years, I've been trying to transition my nursery over to annonas.
it's a very small operation since I'm doing this at my house a 0.180 acre lot.
There is only so much scaling up I can do so I decided that selling 1 gallon trees would be the best for everyone.
I'm mainly trying to spread these other annonas around, I remember how hard it was to find a Dream when I was first starting.

I got most of this budwood a few years ago from forum member JF.
The only ones I got to fruit so far were calastro and birula but I have been neglecting them. (Didn't hand pollinate or fertilize much)

Please post questions on this thread so everyone can benefit.

One word of warning. Annonas (atta type) are finicky and 1 gallon trees are finicky so only buy if you can provide the right environment for them to thrive. (Our extra moisture can kill them)
Also whenever the tree grows to size please make the budwood available to the community (sell it for whatever you want, I just want the genetics to be around long enough so we can determine what works best in south Florida)

Here's a list of what I have to sell. ($50 each)
7 4 arka sahan,
3 1 calastro,
4 1 cherilata,
4 0 dream
2 1 Hawaii pink mammoth.
All of the above are in cherimoya rootstock.

I might have a few more cherilatas coming in a month on Montana rootstock.

Local pick up only.
PM me if interested

Tropical Fruit Discussion / First mangos from 2022
« on: April 23, 2022, 09:37:44 AM »

Had my first two mangos of the season this week.
I had a small manalita I found yellow on the tree and I had a coshall from the first flowering in November (in the picture).

Starting picking a few cogshall, hollow stems on most so that's a good sign

Hey guys I have a few trees in ground that I'm selling.

This Rain forest plum has been in the ground for around 4 years planted from a 15g it's around 6-7ft now. It really benefits from lots of water. Even with my in ground irrigation system during the dry season it doesn't look the prettiest.
So far this is my favorite Eugenia.
Flowers and fruits in winter. With more water it flowers for like half the year.

Dig it up and it's yours for $70

Some story with this trompo canistel from zhpp.
I just don't like canistel enough to want a tree. I tried.
Dig it up and it's yours for $40.

I'm planning on planting a olosapo here instead. Hopefully that does better for me
