Large Fruited Strawberry Guava
« on: April 19, 2020, 09:13:01 AM »
Is anyone growing the following guava sold by Tradewinds Fruit. I am growing 2nd year plants and was curious if anyone has fruited these and can comment on them.

Psidium sp. - Red Guava

http://www.tradewindsfruit.com/psidium-sp.-red-guava-seeds

Here is their description:

"An unknown Psidium sp. bearing dark red fruits somewhat like the strawberry guava. The fruits are larger than the regular strawberry guava, reaching up to golf-ball size and slightly bigger. The pulp is white/translucent with a pleasant, sweet, strawberry-guava flavor. May be a separate species or more likely a variant of the regular strawberry guava. Medium sized tree grows to 15-25ft, hardy into the mid 20's (F). #977"

Here is another thread with pictures of the plant;
