White sapote variety mix up
« on: November 27, 2019, 07:56:41 PM »
Can y’all with Vernon and Suebelle varieties tell me if these leaves look right for the variety. Both seem to have fuzzy undersides but the Vernon seems to have a lot more.

Vernon:

Suebelle:

My Vernon has smooth leaves (bottom and top),  My Suebelle has a fuzzy underside, but not at all as fuzzy as my yellow sapote (C. tetrameria) varieties.  They are called "wooly leaved" for that reason.

Thanks for the response, I wonder if the suebelle is actually Vernon and vice versus?

I am going to switch the labels and wait for them to produce fruit. Hopefully the fruit will confirm the Vernon and not some other.

Jack's response is accurate.

My Vernon is holding a fruit with smooth top and bottom leaves.
Suebelle has fuzzy bottom, smooth top.
