Wondering if anyone has knowledge of the best tasting late Season Grape Varieties. Also, does a harvest time chart exist? I couldn't find one.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Grafting Tape

So I've bought multiple brands of parafilm. My results are certain parafilm works with bark grafts, but not cleft grafts. Too much moisture is retained and the union rots.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Shaping Rollinia Tree
« on: March 02, 2024, 10:30:20 PM »
I have a seedling growing and it was just one branch growing 5 ft upward. I cut it to about 1.5 ft from soil level. Hoping to form a wide branching tree forming from the base.

Most Rollinia trees I've seen in Hawaii are central leader behemoths. Is this just textbook bad management or do they have a preferred growth pattern?

Looking to line up a source of bulk cherimoya seeds this season. 300-500 seeds if possible.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / The Fig Hunter

So I attended this event marketed as a fig Scion exchange in Long Beach. It had a lot of main heads of the CRFG LA. But it turned out to be a marketing event for selling products. I did some research and it looks like they're just rebranding a bunch of named varieties of figs. Over $100 for scions? Yeah, be wary of scams homies.

Hi,

Am wondering if anyone has experimented with growing different varieties of cane in San Diego and which varieties are the best for juicing. Also what's the right time of year to start cuttings.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Old Cherimoya Trees
« on: September 24, 2023, 08:36:15 PM »
Does anyone have experience with cherimoya trees dying after a certain age? Online it says that they live 30-50 years old but have seen a lot of orchards planted in the 70s going strong without missing trees. I guess what’s the oldest grove you guys have seen?

Does anyone have experience with this variety? It’s a hybrid between a Zebrina and Gran Nain and supposedly produces a red banana similar to the flavor of cavendish. The plant has variegated leaves and looks incredible. I’m wondering how the fruit is though because I read that it could be small.
