One more time before the cold fronts?
« on: September 20, 2019, 05:52:11 PM »
If I tip prune my young mango trees one more time here in Merritt Island now before winter will they flush out again or do i run the risk of affecting fruiting next year?  most of the flushes have hardened off since my last pruning but it sure has felt like fall the last few evenings  ( dry not cold ) ......

thanks for your advise

I read that it is best to get one flush. From pruning immediately post-harvest.  And that a second, triggered by water after a dry period (winter), would delay flowering.  And that the second can be prevented by irrigation during dry period.

A second flush in Sept. would not be detrimental, because long time remains before flowering.  And enough time would remain before cold, if weather pattern continues as it has been in recent years.
