Beck's Mangoes
« on: August 18, 2012, 08:33:37 PM »
I met a gentleman and his wife who had a table at the FTG Mango Festival this year and were showcasing their soon to be released mango selections.  Beck was the last name if I recall.  Has anyone heard of these folks and their selections before?  Have any?  There was a little one similar to Carabao in size, shape and colour but taste was even better.  I wonder how they will get their material out there...

I sampled some of these, including that Carabao seedling. I think it was called "Beck's beak" or something like that referring to the beak it had.

I thought it tasted like Carabao. Wasn't really exciting.

Tried another one called "Herbie" which was good though. Not sure if that was one of theirs;  there's a mango called 'Herbie' which has been in the mango display in the past.
