New Mango Leaves are Huge!

I planted my Tequila Sunrise mango tree two years ago. It is still quite small: about 4 - 5 feet tall. A few weeks ago I was concerned because it had not pushed any flowers or new leaves yet this year. Right after that it started showing some new buds and has pushed out the biggest leaves I've ever seen on a mango. The new leaves are over a foot long and 5 inches wide. It looks very odd on such a small tree. And it looks like there are more to come. Hopefully, this is a good thing....

Good for you!! The tree is preparing with big leaves ready to cover the coming giant fruits -- protect fruit from SoCal hot sun. Just kidding.
